Aaron's Superhero Party

Aaron and Manoah hosted a Super Hero party last weekend.  9 boys in our little apartment!  Bry made hamburgers for everyone and then promptly excaped to next door!

They played "Pin the Emblem Batman"!! Hahaha

They played a jackpot baloon game that is common here...

They also got lots of prizes!  Even the adults were happy about that! Bry could hear them shouting and laughing all the way next door.

All in all it was a big success.  We love spending time with the young ones in the congregation.  Its fun to let loose once in awhile and act like a kid again!  Until next year...

Walking to the Ends of the Earth

On Monday we had a wonderful day preaching high up in the mountaintops!  Our friend Manoah is here visiting and also Bry's aunt, Trudi.  We left at 7:30 am to meet the group.  There were 25 of us that packed into 1 pickup truck!

As we were slowing inching up the mountain roads, there were times that I wondered if we would start rolling backwards!  At least Aaron and Manoah were hanging off the back so they could have jumped off quickly!

The sun was pretty strong that day so it was a nice break to take an afternoon coffee break by the river!

We are always so amazed at the young ones here.  Even children as young as 5 years old come out with us on these long days!  They love searching for wild flowers and fresh fruit trees along the way and practicing singing their Kingdom Melodies!

Then, the next day we went on a hiking trip to the Panacam Lodge.  Its in the Cerro Azul National Forest and includes an area called the "cloud forest"!  You are actually above the clouds and can look down on top of them!  It was such a beautiful and scenic day.   But boy, were we tired after 2 straight days of hiking up mountains!!

As you can tell, we are a very serious group!!

Dedication of our Kingdom Hall in Taulabe

Today, Saturday December 8th, 2012, we had the great honor of dedicating, or inaugurating, our new Kingdom Hall in Taulabe.  It was such a beautiful and emotional occasion.

At the ceremony we were told a little bit of the history of Jehovah's Witnesses in our town.  In the 80's and 90's a group of Witnesses from a nearby town called Seguatepeque would come periodically and preach door to door in our area.  Sometimes they would even ride their bicycles here if they couldn't find transportation; a distance of more than 15 miles!  In 1996 there was enough interest that they started an official group in Taulabe.  There were about 6 people from one village and another handful from other villages.  They would all meet in an old ladies house once a week to study the Watchtower.  Later, as we kept growing, responsible brothers, elders, were assigned here.  In 2009, we were big enough to become an official congregation.  Bry started coming to Honduras back in 2008 when it was still a group and warmly remembers the days when there were only 12 sisters meeting together!

Its so amazing to see how things have grown.  We now have 38 baptized Jehovah's Witnesses in our small town.  Each meeting we have around 60-70 people in attendance.  So it is such a blessing to finally have a dignified place to meet.  We can honestly say that its the most beautiful building in town!

We spent Friday afternoon cleaning up the hall and getting ready for all the guests...

Everyone did a wonderful job at cleaning and cooking and preparing.  The big day arrived and everything went well.  We had made little bookmarks with a picture of our new Kingdom Hall and the day's program to give away as gifts.  Also a DVD was made with pics and videos from the previous months' construction.  During the program, different ones were interviewed to tell about their history here and how things have progressed.  We also had a visiting speaker from the north coast to give the dedication talk.  The food fortunately turned out beautifully also!  Everyone enjoyed themselves and the program.

We are so thankful to have this new place to have our christian meetings.  Thank you to everyone that helped on the project or supported it in other ways!  If you live in the US and make contributions to the Kingdom Hall Assist Fund...now you know where your money is going!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!
